The project "Good Light for Everyone" is aimed at small and medium-sized concerts or events that need very good stage or disco light, but either do not have the means to spend thousands of euros or / and have a tight schedule and not hours plan for construction and dismantling.
In 2019 Matthias Thömel launched the "Good Light for Everyone" project. He was concerned that many of the small and medium-sized events only take place under poor stage lighting conditions, because the organizers or the venues did not want or could not invest enough in good stage lighting. Artists who strive for the best possible representation of their art always suffer from this.
Matthias has two professions: lighting design for concerts and software development. With his company Thömel-Consulting he works on industrial projects in the field of embedded software development and Android. In the course of his life, however, he has been able to build up a considerable vita in the field of shows and concerts (linked document in German).
After several light design assignments in Hanover's cultural establishments in 2017 and 2018, Matthias developed the idea in 2019 to offer his own, very good lighting system, transportable and modular. When developing the lighting system, he paid attention to the most important questions regarding a modern lighting system and its use:
- High quality and wide range of functions of the headlights used
- The headlights are quiet
- Modular and effective programming of the light mixer
- High flexibility with regard to the usable configurations of the entire system
- Low energy consumption
- Quick assembly and dismantling
The aim was not to give any stage or event organizer an obstacle to not being able to offer the best for the artist.
The lighting system was created in 2019. Self-constructed traverses were used, which were manufactured by a specialist company and have a test certificate for use over people. These trusses contain permanently installed headlight groups and are pre-wired (more here). The system was then used monthly until the end of quarter 1/2020.
After the corona pandemic, things are going on. But with one change: at that time the lighting system was made available to all interested parties free of charge. On the one hand to enrich the art scene, on the other hand to eliminate the bugs of the mixer programming. From 2021, the interested party will have to pay for the use of the lighting system.
What do you get for the price? The articles on this website provide information on this. An overview of the technology used can be found in the article "Setup". In the run-up to the event, Matthias' organization takes care of everything in advance. And finally, Matthias is available as a light operator and designer for the event.
You get these benefits when you rent the lighting system.
